The 6th International Workshop on Information Fusion and Geographical Information Systems (IF&GIS'2013)
St. Petersburg, May 2013

is a premier event in the development of theories, models and advanced applications of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). It follows a series of successful workshops held in 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009 in St. Petersburg, and 2011 in Brest, France. It has been continuously organised by the OOGIS research laboratory of the St Petersburg Institute for Informatics and Automation.      The 5th event was move to Brest in France with a specific focus on maritime geographical information systems and the digital ocean. It was organised under the umbrella of the 3rd International conference on Safer Seas.

The 6th IF&GIS workshop will bring academic and industrial experts from a large set of fields such as GIS, mathematics, statistics, artificial intelligence, geography, computational geometry, cognitive science, spatial databases, visualisation, environment sciences, underwater acoustics. The scope of the 6th IF&GIS workshop will address several research issues from the modelling, analysis, information processing and visualization of geographical information with a specific application to the maritime environment.
Contributions are expected from academics and PhD students from a wide range of disciplines. The specific scientific domains covered include but are not limited to:
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • GIS ontologies
  • GIS data integration and modelling
  • Underwater acoustics
  • GIS and data fusion
  • GIS and corporate information systems
  • GIS and real-time monitoring systems
  • GIS algorithms and computational issues
  • Novel and emerging marine GIS research areas
  • Monitoring of maritime terrorist threat
  • Maritime and environmental GIS
  • Navigation-based and maritime transportation GIS
  • Human factors in maritime GIS
  • Coastal and environmental GIS

The suggested Workshop scope includes though not limited to the above list. The forthcoming international IF&GIS Workshop encourage presentation of scientific and technological innovations and opportunities to make periodically measure the background of the new challenges with respect to economic and shipping trends.

All papers accepted for the Workshop are planned to be published in Springer-Verlag Lecture Notes in the Geoinformation & Cartography (LNG&C) series. (To be confirmed)
Authors are requested to submit PDF file, and also Word copy (it must be Word 97 – 2003), no later than the submission deadlines, as Organizing Committee needs some time to complete the Proceedings preparation according the publisher’s contractual and formal requirements to the above materials.

Formatting instructions for full paper submissions are available on this web page: "Rules For Authors":
